Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup light brown sugar
About 1 cup white sugar, separated
1 tsp ground cinnamon, separated
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
1 pinch salt
½ cup butter (one stick), cut into pieces
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ tsp ground ginger
6 cups apples cored, chopped (peeled if desired)
2 tablespoons lemon juice

1. Mix flour, brown sugar, ½ cup of white sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together in a bowl. Combine butter in with the mixture using a fork or your fingers until coarse crumbs form. Stir in walnuts and set aside.

2. Whisk together 1/3 cup sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon.

3. Place the apples in the bottom of the slow cooker, stir in the mixture from step 2 (cornstarch mixture); toss with lemon juice.

4. Sprinkle the walnut crumb topping (step 1 mixture) over the top.

5. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours or LOW for 4 hours, until apples are tender. After cooking time is complete, uncover the slow cooker to allow the topping to harden for about an hour.

We serve this dish with vanilla ice cream! :)

Ham and Split Pea Soup Crock Pot

Ingredients

1 16-ounce package dried split peas
1 leftover ham bone with meat left on it
7 cup water
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
3/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
3 sprigs fresh thyme, stemmed
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1.     Add all ingredients to the Crock-Pot® slow cooker.

2.     Cover; cook on Low 10-12 hours or High 5-6 hours.

Serves: 6-8

32 oz jar Unsalted Peanuts

8 oz (2, 4-oz bars) of german sweet chocolate

8 oz Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

24 oz White or Chocolate Almond Bark, confectioners coating


Directions:

Put in the crock pot in the order as written; cook on Low 2-3 hours. Stir and drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper. They will harden without putting in the refrigerator.

Helpful Tips:

Depending on size dropped, you can make up to 80+ pieces of candy. You can also use milk chocolate chips instead of the semi-sweet

Calico Beans Slow Cooker

Calico Beans Slow Cooker
1 pound lean ground meat, browned and drained
1 pound smoked bacon, browned, drained, and diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 (30-ounce) can Pork n' Beans
1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15-ounce) can butter beans, drained and rinsed
1 tablespoon liquid smoke

The Directions.

Use a 6-quart or larger crockpot. This makes a lot.
In a large skillet, brown the hamburger, bacon, and onion.

While the meats and onion are browning, add the rest of the ingredients into the slow cooker. Drain the meats well, and dump into the slow cooker. Use a large spoon to gingerly fold in the hot ingredients.

Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Stir well and serve. You can vary the types of beans used, as well.

Mexican Crock Pot Steak and Beans

Mexican Crock Pot Steak and Beans



1 1/2 pounds beef flank steak

1 10 ounce can chopped tomatoes with green chilie peppers (Rotell Brand)

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 Tbl. snipped fresh oregano or 1 tsp dried oregano, crushed

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black ppepper

2 small green,red, and/or yellow sweet pepper, cut into strips

1 15 ounce can pinto beans, rinsed and drained

3 cups hot cooked rice

crumbled queso fresco or feta cheese (optional) also mexican mix cheese works

Snipped fresh oregano (optional)

Trim fat from meat. Place meat in a 3 1/2 to 4 quart cooker. In a bowl stir together

undrained tomatoes, onions, garlic, dried oregano (if using), chili powder, cumin, salt,

and black pepper. Pour over meat.

Cover and cook on low heat setting for 7 to 9 hours or on high heat setting for 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours.

If using low heat setting, turn on high heat setting. Add sweet pepper strips and pinto beans. Cover and cook for 30 minutes more. Remove meat; cool slightly shred

or thinly slice meat across the grain. If using, stir fresh oregano into pinto bean mixture.

To serve, spoon rice into soup bowls. Arrange meat on rice. Spoon bean mixture

over meat. If desired, sprinkle with cheese and additional oregano.

Crock Pot Corn and Sausage Chowder

20 oz frozen shredded hash browns
1 14 oz can chicken broth
1 cup water
1 chicken bouillion cube
10 oz frozen whole kernel corn
2 cups milk
1 lb Polska Kielbasa sausage, sliced
3 green onions, sliced
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix everything in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 3.5 to 4 hours and enjoy
